A man wearing a garbage bag over his head robbed one Columbus business early this morning and attempted to rob another less than three hours later.
Columbus Police Lt. Lynn Joiner said a man walked into the Circle K at 2514 Manchester Expressway about 3:50 a.m., approached the clerk and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money. He did not present a weapon, Joiner said.
A parking lot surveillance camera recorded footage of a van believed to be the suspect's getaway vehicle leaving the parking lot.
At 6:05 a.m. authorities were called to the scene of a robbery at the CVS on Hilton Avenue. Witnesses to that incident told police a man with a plastic garbage bag over his head and no shoes on his feet tried to take money from the business but was run off by store employees.

Joiner said the suspect is a white man in his mid-20s, standing between 5-foot-9 and 5-foot-11.
In addition to the bag over his head, the suspect was dressed in tan shorts, a white sweat shirt and a gray shirt that was pulled over his arms possibly hiding tattoos. The man wore brown shoes in the first incident, Joiner said.
According to Circle K surveillance footage, the vehicle appears to be a dark blue Chevrolet or GMC van with silver stripes on the side. It has twolarge tinted windows on the left side and a spare tire on the rear with a painted tire cover the same color as the van.
