Historic house moved to Columbus Historic District

The Columbus Historic District has a new resident this morning.

A crew from I.L. Davis Housemovers, Inc, from Salem, Alabama, spent Wednesday morning moving an historic house from 1055 Brown Avenue to its new location at 627 Broadway.

The house, an example of an 1850s Greek Revival cottage, was split into two sections for the move. The building was donated to Historic Columbus by Aflac. Aflac also contributed to the moving expenses.

Historic Columbus Foundation will stabilize the structure, restore the exterior, and then place it up for sale.
