Beacon University, a Christian liberal arts school on Veterans Parkway, is closing, the school announced Friday.
"It is with deep regret, that due to circumstances beyond our control, it has become necessary to begin the process of closing the institution effective at the end of the 2008-2009 academic year," the Rev. Ian Bond, D.Min., the school's president, said in a statement.
A headline of the Friday media release said "financial crisis" was the cause of the closure, but did not give details.
Bond and the school's founder, the Rev. Ron Cottle, Ph.D., were not available for comment Friday, according to a spokeswoman.
