With Columbus Council canceling the meeting it normally would have held Tuesday, visitors would not have had much to see on the Government Center's plaza level.
But now they do, because the government watchdog group Common Cause Columbus has called a press conference there for 10 a.m.
Common Cause is to make an announcement regarding Columbus' proposed 1 percent sales tax that's up for a vote July 15. Advance voting for that election begins Monday, and a pro-tax "Yes for Public Safety" campaign is now in high gear, buying TV ads and billboards.
Common Cause Chairman Sam Rawls will be the one making a statement about the tax, with other Common Cause Columbus board members backing him.
