Funeral arrangements not set for soldier with ties to Columbus

Funeral arrangements for Sgt. 1st Class Steven J. Chevalier, of Flint, Mich., killed Wednesday in Iraq, have not yet been made, according to McMullen Funeral Home.

Chevalier died from injuries sustained when his vehicle was struck by an anti-tank grenade in Samarra, Iraq, according to the Army.

The 35-year-old soldier was assigned to Fort Campbell, Ky., as a member of the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

His wife, Geneva, and his two daughters, Ashley and Alishia, live in Columbus, according to Fort Campbell public affairs.
