The Lee County Sheriff's Office is looking for the suspect who robbed a postal truck early this morning in Smiths, Ala.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office received a call around 1:50 a.m. from the Smith Station Post Office on Lee Road 430. The caller said the back door to the post office was open and a postal truck was parked at the loading dock. The caller reported that the engine to the truck was running, but no one was around at the time.

When deputies arrived at the post office they discovered the driver of the postal truck locked inside the rear trailer of the vehicle. The driver told deputies that on Wednesday around 6 p.m. he was loading his postal truck when an unknown male walked up to the truck and pointed a gun at him.

The suspect demanded that the victim give him several postal bags, then fled from the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash after locking the postal driver in the truck.
