She's the married mother of two, a lover of rhythm and blues who has sung with bands in many of the major clubs in New York City. In Washington, D.C., she was the chief national correspondent for the Black Entertainment Network and in Atlanta, was a weekend anchor at WXIA. An Emmy winner, she received much recognition for her coverage of the Oklahoma City bombing.
On Sept. 3, Barbara Gauthier becomes the new anchor on the evening newscasts at WTVM in Columbus.
Gauthier, who grew up in Waverly Hall, Ga. where her mother still lives, is currently the co-host of a morning news show at WKYC in Cleveland, Ohio.
In a WTVM press release, station General Manager and Vice President Lee Brantley said a "national and internal search," was conducted to fill the position. He said there were "many good candidates and the decision was difficult."
Gauthier is a graduate of Mercer University.
