During the four-level competition on Wednesday, the vehicles, which are unmanned and not flown by a human operator, attempt to fly to a specific location, identify a specific building and enter into that building.
The vehicle also has to dispatch a sensor probe that performs reconnaissance via still photo, live video or slow-scan television. To complete Level 4, the highest level, a team must accomplish all tasks in 15 minutes or less. Ten teams of college students from the U.S., Canada and India competed for $80,000.
