Fort Benning held an appreciation event Friday for soldiers and family members who worked hard and sacrificed through the last deployment.
Rock act Eve 6, country singer/songwriter Miranda Lambert and "American Idol" season two finalist Kimberly Locke performed Friday at Soldiers and Family Appreciation Day.
Hosted by the post's Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department, the event was open to active-duty soldiers, family members, Department of Defense civilians and contractors with military identification.
The festivities began at 5 p.m. on York Field with food, drinks and a meet and greet with Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Rashad Evans. The day also included a Medieval Times sword fight demonstration.
