Russell County Coroner Arthur L. Sumbry, Jr. has identified the female who was found dead Monday along County Road 39.
Sumbry said the body that was discovered was the of 44-year-old Cynthia Denise Huling of Columbus. Sumbry said he is still not sure of Huling's cause of death.
The body was discovered Monday morning by a man looking for cans along County Road 39, about a mile from Alabama 165. Ivey said it appeared she was a black female, about 5-foot-5 and of medium build. Since Monday, investigators have received between 10 and 15 phone calls regarding the woman's identity.
A preliminary autopsy report from the state crime lab in Montgomery did not reveal the identity of the body nor did it determine the cause of death.
The case is being investigated as a homicide.
