State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox is accepting applications from high school students to be part of the 2008-2009 Student Advisory Council.
Members of council meet four times during the school year with Cox to discuss how decisions made at the state level are affecting Georgia students.
Members act as liaisons between the students of Georgia and the Department of Education.
Any student in grades 9-12 is eligible to apply.

Meeting dates are tentatively set for October 20, 2008; December 8, 2008; February 9, 2009 and April 13, 2009. Applicants should be able to attend all four meetings.
Applications can be accessed on the Muscogee County School District's Web site, www.mcsdga.net. They should be mailed to the state department of education and must be received by September 12, 2008.
