The Open Door Institute, a 12-week culinary and life skills training program beginning in the fall, will provide homeless men and women with new employable skills and the opportunity to earn at least a living wage and ultimately offering them a chance to move beyond homelessness.
The program will serve 24 students annually. To support this, “A Night of Culinary Creations” will feature the food by Green Island Executive Chef Morten Wulff and the humor of comedienne Kerri Pomarolli.
This fundraising event will provide scholarships for culinary arts training program participants and is sponsored by Open Door Community House and Second Harvest Food Bank. It is 7-9 p.m. Aug. 21 at Green Island Country Club, 6501 Standing Boy Road.
Tickets are $100 apiece or $800 for a table.
