The body of a woman found this morning in Phenix City has been identified. Russell County Coroner Arthur L. Sumbry, Jr. said the body found was 61-year-old Ellen Long of Phenix City. A truck driver passing through Phenix City found the body around 8 a.m. this morning.
Long's body was found on Brickyard Road under Ogletree Bridge. Sumbry said it appeared Long had only been deceased for a few hours. Long's body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensics in Montgomery for an autopsy. Sumbry said there was no trauma to Long's body when she was found. Phenix City Police are investigating the case as a homicide. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Phenix City Police Department.
