Columbus High graduates Akeem Anderson and Cain Harrelson have joined Teach For America and will teach in the underserved schools in New Orleans, La., and Phoenix, Ariz., as part of a national movement to end educational inequity.
Teach For America is national corps of top recent college graduates who commit two years to teach in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong advocates for educational equity.
The incoming corps has 3,700 teachers chosen from 25,000 applicants.
Anderson is a 2004 graduate of Columbus High and 2008 graduate of Mercer University.
Cain Harrelson is a 2004 graduate of Columbus High and a 2008 graduate of the University of Georgia.
Anderson will teach in New Orleans and Harrelson in Phoenix.
