The free meal program is back this summer. It begins Thursday.
For the 17th consecutive year, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department will be providing free meals to children 18 and under. The program runs through August 3.
The meals are made possible by a $500,000 grant and will be available at 41 locations, including schools, churches, Boys &Girls Clubs and a couple of YMCAs.
"We will serve anywhere from 4,000-5,000 children per day," said Rhonda Blackmon of the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department. "There is no sign up. If a child shows up hungry, they'll get a meal."
