Sunday's season finale of "Desperate Housewives" began with an image of Edie Britt's dead mother telling her she'd die alone, and ended with the blond vixen's attempt to hang herself.
Viewers, too, were left hanging — Edie's status won't be revealed until fall.
The suicide attempt came after Carlos learned Edie's desire to have a baby with him was simply a sham to keep him around. He broke up with her when he learned she was on birth control pills the whole time.
Don't feel too sorry for Carlos, though. His ex-wife Gaby ended up in his arms after overhearing her new mayor hubby say he married her to secure Latino votes in an upcoming gubernatorial race.

In happier wedding news, Susan finally married Mike in a humble spur-of-the-moment nighttime ceremony.
Also, the episode marked the return of Bree, who showed up pregnant to Gaby's wedding. Or at least she looked pregnant.
Turns out she's just wearing a tummy pad to cover for her pregnant teenage daughter. Bree's family tells the neighbors the teen is studying abroad, but she's really at a local home run by nuns.
It's assumed Bree plans to tell everyone her daughter's baby is her own.
Finally, could things get any worse for Lynette? She narrowly skirts the temptation of an affair, only to learn she has cancer. Then, she gets a surprise visit from her mom — someone she hasn't spoken to in years.
Mom claims she wants to help Lynette through her cancer, but things are hardly ideal. Let's just say Lynette has some serious childhood baggage.
