Jena 6 student will play football for Shaw

The Georgia High School Association will allow Robert Bailey Jr., one of the Jena 6, to play football for Shaw High in Columbus this season.

Shaw had applied for hardship on behalf of Bailey and the decision was announced today.Bailey, 18, has been at Shaw since January 2007 after being expelled from school in Jenna, La. He was one of six black teens accused of beating a white student at the school.

He sat out a year and had exhaused the eight semesters for which he would have eligible.

He is a wide receiver/linebacker and is considered a college prospect.

Shaw plays Central on Friday.
