Music in Columbus sponsors the Nashville Songwriters Association International Showcase in the Phenix City Amphitheater, 508 Dillingham St., at 6 p.m. Sept. 27. It's free.
Preshow activities include a kazoo parade. The line will begin on the Phenix City Riverwalk near the amphitheater. Kazoos will cost $1 and proceeds go to pay the musicians performing that night. The Flag Praise Ministry of Faith worship Center will lead the parade down the Riverwalk into the amphitheater for the 7 p.m. concert.
The showcase will feature local bands performing songs written by local songwriters who are members of the Nashville Songwriters Association International. Genres include country, rock, blues, folk and Christian.
The concert features Peggy Jenkins and the Bizness. She'll be paying tribute to Ma Rainey and Willie Denson. She'll perform original music as well as cover songs.
There will be food concessions as well as vendors selling music-related merchandise.
Blankets and lawn chairs are allowed; coolers and pets are not.
