A house on Marlboro Avenue in Columbus was so gutted by fire Saturday that investigators were calling it a total loss.
Firefighters summoned to 565 Marlboro Ave. at 1:31 p.m. found flames shooting out the windows when they arrived at 1:35, said Battalion Chief Alan Davis. He said it took 15 minutes to get the blaze under control.
Some children were in the house, but all escaped without injury, he said.
An investigator on the scene was trying to determine the cause of the fire.
Marlboro Avenue runs from Dawson Street to Clover Lane off Cusseta Road, just west of Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School.
