Highway construction projects throughout Georgia will be scaled back, halting related lane closures on all Interstate and major system highways, through Monday to ease traffic congestion during the holiday weekend, the Georgia Department of Transportation announced.
Beginning at 5 a.m. Friday and ending 10 p.m. Monday, there will be no scheduled lane closures on any Georgia interstate highway or primary state route.
The department said that some road work may continue on lesser-traveled state and local system roads and that emergency maintenance -related lane closures could become necessary on any route.
