Columbus car dealer Carl Gregory is in negotiations to buy Bill Heard's Columbus dealership, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.
Gregory declined to comment when contacted Wednesday afternoon.
Gregory, who owns dealerships in six Southeast cities, including Columbus, has been in talks with Bill Heard Enterprises for three days, the source said. Talks intensified Wednesday when Bill Heard Enterprises shut down its 13 dealerships, including Columbus. The source said Gregory met with Bill Heard enterprises CEO Bill Heard Jr. on Wednesday at the corporate headquarters in the Brookstone Centre and at the dealership on Manchester Expressway.
Heard was not available for comment Wednesday.
Gregory has operated Chrysler, Jeep and Honda dealerships in Columbus for more than two decades.
