A Columbus woman died Monday in a two-car wreck at Moon Road and Whittlesey Boulevard.
Christine Ellis, 54, was a passenger in the Chevrolet Corvette traveling north on Moon at 11:50 a.m., said Columbus Police Sgt. Clyde Dent.
The 49-year-old driver was about to turn left onto Whittlesey when a 75-year-old driver in a Dodge Ram pickup that was heading south on Moon collided with the Corvette's right side, the sergeant said.
"Extensive damage," Dent added. "Two transported for injuries, both the drivers were transported for injuries. One fatality. It's still under investigation."
Ellis died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest, Coroner Bill Thrower said. She was pronounced dead at 12:20 p.m.
Traffic was at a virtual standstill at the time of the wreck, Dent said. Officers had to clear the intersection and divert traffic to get vehicles moving again.
