Hurtsboro voters elect Tapley as new mayor

Rayford Tapley has been named the mayor-elect of Hurtsboro.

Tapley beat Teutonya Burns by nearly 40 votes, 93 to 55, in a runoff election Tuesday night.

A runoff election was scheduled after a close election in August. In the August election, Tapley got 62 votes and Burns received 57. A third candidate, Greg Smith, got 28 votes and was not eligible for the runoff.
