Columbus man beaten, robbed

A 23-year-old Columbus man was beaten and robbed Friday afternoon while visiting a friend.

The man told police he had stopped by his friend's Columbus home at around 2:30 p.m. when a group of men approached him outside of the Eddy Drive residence.

One of the suspects claimed that he had "disrespected his family." That's when four or five men ran toward him, the man told police.

The man ran to his car but was tackled by one of the suspects, who started punching him in the head and face. He told police the suspects also kicked his back and sides and stomped on his left ankle and foot.

During the fight, the man was also robbed of his cell phone.

An ambulance came and took the injured victim to The Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
