Man gets wallet snatched at Columbus library

A Phenix City man had his wallet snatched at the Columbus public library Wednesday, police said.

According to a Columbus police report, the 69-year-old man was stopped by the book drop boxes on the north side of the library on Macon Road at about 11:30 a.m.

He told police he was leaning over to clean the bumper of his limousine when an unknown man reached into his pocket and took his wallet, containing an Alabama driver's license and $30 in cash.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 16 years old, standing about 5 feet tall and weighing between 130 and 140 lbs. He was wearing a long white T-shirt, blue jeans and black house slippers.

The case remains under investigation.
