Visitor Center exhibits seek to put Georgia on your mind

You don't have to be from out of state to want to learn more about Georgia, and especially about fun places to go on vacation.

On Friday, the Georgia Visitor Center on Williams Road at Interstate 185, Exit 12, in Columbus will play host to a free Georgia On My Mind Day celebration. The festivities, which will be held outside under tents, will run from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. There will be free hot dogs, popcorn and drinks.

Among the almost 30 Georgia exhibitors will Babyland General Cabbage Patch Hospital of Cleveland, Georgia Sports Hall of Fame from Macon, Wild Animal Safari from Pine Mountain, Habitat Global Village from Americus, Westville from Lumpkin, Medieval Times Restaurant from Lawrenceville, Little White House from Warm Springs, Florence Marina State Park from Omaha, Silver Dollar Raceway from Reynolds and Oxbow Meadows from Columbus.

Animals will be on display, as will a race car. There will even be some sword fights.

Many of the exhibitors will have free tickets available for those interested in visiting their sites this summer.
