FBI and Lee County authorities investigating case of apparent racial harassment

The Lee County Sheriff's Office is investigating a complaint involving possible racial harassment.

The complainant, who resides on Lee Road 454, Smiths, apparently returned home shortly after 8:26 p.m./CST Tuesday, and discovered that someone had left three wooden crosses in their yard.

The three crosses one of which had the letters "KKK" spray painted on it. The crosses ranged from three to five feet in height, a release said. There was also a nylon rope tied in a noose hanging from the spray painted cross.

The Lee County Sheriff's Office has contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the two agencies are conducting a joint investigation into this reported crime.
