Man attacked at gas station

A Smiths, Ala., man was attacked as he was getting into his car at a Columbus gas station.

A Columbus police officer met with the 25-year-old victim Thursday at Doctors Hospital.

The 25-year-old victim told Columbus police he stopped by the Circle K gas station at 3274 Victory Drive around noon Thursday to get a pack of cigarettes.

As he was getting into his car, he said a man attacked him. The attacker had a knife and cut the victim on his left arm. The man then ran toward a mobile home park behind the gas station, the man said.

The victim described his attacker as Hispanic, 27 to 35 years old, standing about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He also had a scar on the top left side of his head.

The victim said he drove himself to Doctors Hospital, where he was treated for cuts on his arm and forehead.
