Man accused in vehicle thefts


A Columbus man is accused of stealing at least two cars and suspected in other crimes, police said.

Vashon Walker, 17, faces a series of charges that include two counts of theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by receiving stolen property, contempt of court, having no state license, no proof of insurance and no state tag, according to Muscogee County Jail records. He was arrested Thursday and held in the jail on bonds totaling $33,845.

Police Lt. Richard Gaines said Walker is accused of stealing a 2008 Kia Spectra and 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer. Walker was also charged with receiving a stolen 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer.
