Wreck kills Chambers men in Opelika

An accident in Opelika, Ala., involving two automobiles resulted in the death of two Chambers County men Sunday evening.

Killed in the wreck were 55-year-old Eddie "Nick" Foreman and 67-year-old Sylvester Hughley Jr.

Lee County coroner Bill Harris pronounced both men dead at the scene at 7:32 p.m.

The other man involved in the accident was Cedric Eugene Perry of Opelika who suffered minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to the emergency room at East Alabama Medical Center.

Foreman was driving a 1997 Hyundai Accord and was headed north on LaFayette Parkway. Witnesses said he mya have been attempting to pass when he pulled into the south lane and hit Perry's 1997 Mercury Marquis head on. The accident occurred in the 2300 block just north of Opeilka High School around 7 p.m.

No autopsies are planned.

Opelika police are still investigating.
