Lucretius Delray Stephens, who was arrested on domestic violence charges earlier this year, has resigned from his position as a coach and teacher at Carver High School.
Stephens resigned Oct. 29, according to the Muscogee County School District's communications director Valerie Fuller. He was a special education teacher and linebacker/defensive coordinator for the football team at Carver.
Fuller said the district is currently looking for his replacement.
Stephens, 35, was arrested and charged with battery with physical harm on Sept. 18 after he allegedly punched his wife in the forehead, according to police.

Stephens' wife told police that they were in the parking lot of the Comer Recreation Center on Joyner Drive when he struck her on the right side of her forehead with a closed fist.
She sustained a knot and bruise to her head, but refused treatment.
