Opelika Police are calling the Thursday night death of an Auburn man a homicide after finding his body with a single gunshot wound to the head.
The body of Randall Kardoes, 44, was discovered inside an apartment's hallway in the 100 building at Tall Oaks Apartments, 2908 Birmingham Highway, Opelika, around 11:20 p.m. when police and medical personnel responded to a report that someone had been shot, said Lee County Coroner Bill Harris and Opelika Police Capt. Alan Elkins.
Kiley Christian Jackson, 28, of Opelika, was arrested at the scene and charged with murder, Elkins said.
"The cause of the shooting is what we're investigating," Elkins said. "Investigators are still following leads and working the case."
