Central-Phenix City's Haley Wilson signed a full scholarship to Auburn University Wednesday morning in Central's library. The 17-year-old golfer will graduate from Central on Dec. 19 and will enroll at Auburn on Jan. 6.
Wilson chose to graduate early from high school after speaking with Auburn coach Kim Evans. Evans asked Wilson if she'd be willing to join the team for this upcoming season. Wilson said after speaking with the coach and praying about it she chose to leave school early.
Central's girls golf team won its first-ever 6A state championship last year. Wilson repeated as the individual state champion. Evans is expected to comment on Wilson's signing later this afternoon after the official papers are sent to Auburn.
