Muscogee County's adult ed program wins state award

The Muscogee County School District's adult education program is a grand prize winner of the state's 2008 Literacy Awareness Campaign.

The Literacy Awareness Campaign is a statewide competition that encourages teambuilding and collaboration among the state’s adult education, GED testing and Certified Literate Community programs. Participants were scored on their promotion of adult education through fundraising activities, local literacy events and community partnerships with schools, civic organizations, and businesses.

The competition and award is sponsored by the Technical College System of Georgia’s Office of Adult Education.

An award ceremony and celebration luncheon will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13 at the Tillinghurst Adult Education Center on Morris Road in Columbus.

The Muscogee County Adult Education Program is a five-county program for students 16 years of age or older who have withdrawn from a regular high school program.
