Dothan police arrest one in Thursday's murder, looking for second suspect

Dothan police have arrested one suspect and are searching for a second suspect in Thursday's murder of 28-year-old Christopher Woods, of Dothan.

Officers responded to 1021 Blackshear St. just after 2 p.m. and found Woods suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene by Dothan fire medics and then transported by ambulance to the Southeast Alabama Medical Center Emergency Center where he died shortly after he reached the emergency room.

Today, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Dothan police charged Tawuan Townes, 18, of Wheat Street, Dothan, with murder.

Investigators are looking for a second suspect in the case and expect to obtain a warrant for Capital Murder for Cornellius Benton, Dothan.

Benton should be considered armed and dangerous.
