Valley, Ala. is going to honor one of its heroes tonight and Friday.
Sergeant Brandon F. Hadaway, 25, a graduate of Valley High, was killed when the helicopter he was in was shot down by enemy fire in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on May 30.
At the Valley Community Center his family will receive friends from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. EDT. A card and message board will be on site for visitors to leave written words of support and remembrances of Hadaway.
At the same location on Friday, a community memorial service will be held beginning at 5 p.m. EDT. This event, paying tribute not only to Hadaway but all military personnel, will include military, state and local dignitaries as well as members of the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

A Chinook helicopter piloted by Captain Dan Henzie of Fort Benning will arrive at the Sportsplex Friday morning and remain on display all day.
Friday has been proclaimed "Flag Day" in Valley.
