Phenix City police are searching for the killer of a 16-year-old boy.
At approximately 10 p.m. Thursday Phenix City officers responded to a shooting call at 2307 7th Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Kerri Demarcus Battle, resident of that location, lying dead in a bedroom. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the head.
"It appears to have been one shot," said Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry who pronounced Battle dead at 11:25 p.m.
The body has been sent for an autopsy to the forensics lab in Montgomery, Ala.
A firearm has been recovered at the scene. A suspect has been tentatively identified by Phenix City police and is being sought by officers. Suspect information will be released later today.
