Tucker to give talk at Oxbow about Bachman's Sparrow

James Tucker of the Archbold Biological Station in central Florida will be at the Oxbow Meadows Environmental Center in Columbus Saturday to discuss his research about Bachman's Sparrow.

Admission for the 1 p.m. talk is $5 and reservations should be made at 706-687-4090.

Bachman's Sparrow is one of the bird species most characteristic of longleaf pine communities.

Over the past 100 years, the population of the bird has declined at a moderately rapid rate and is listed by Birdlife International as "near threatened."
