FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) _ Hall County authorities have identified a man who died after being hit by a boat on Lake Lanier.

Deputy Coroner John Wayne Abernathy identified him as Sarjel Vera, 30, of Atlanta. Abernathy said Vera was part of a group of people on the boat and was in the water swimming when he was hit around 6 p.m. Sunday in the south end of the lake.

Hall County Fire Chief David Kimbrell said the accident happened in a part of the lake just out from Aqualand Marina near Flowery Branch.

The death was the first of the month on Lanier and first since two people died on the lake over Memorial Day weekend.
