MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) _ Four young passengers riding in an SUV late Saturday night died after the Jeep they were in rolled off the highway.
Authorities said the crash occurred just before midnight off I-575 in Cobb County. The driver, Cara M. Holland of Canton, 19, and her front seat passenger, Roy D. Padgett of Woodstock, 21, were wearing their seatbelts and survived. None of the victims who died were wearing seatbelts.
Police said Holland lost control of the 2005 Jeep Liberty and it turned sideways, overturning several times and ejecting the four who died.
Two of the killed passengers were dead at the scene, and the others were pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The incident is still under investigation, but alcohol use was not suspected.
