Locals might be interested in the movie ‘‘Breach’’ because Ryan Philippe's character — a young agent tasked with catching an FBI turncoat red-handed — was in real life an Auburn University graduate named Eric O'Neill. But it's Chris Cooper's gripping, nuanced portrayal of the spy Robert Hanssen that will keep viewers so engaged that they won't notice that nearly all of the movie takes place in an office.
The 2007 film, which also stars Laura Linney, is out on DVD today, highlighting a week of otherwise lightweight releases, including Nicolas Cage's hoaky ‘‘Ghost Rider’’ and the first season of the show that served up John Travolta's first notable role, as Vinnie Barbarino, ‘‘Welcome Back, Kotter.’’
