'American Idol' recap: San Francisco and Louisville

"American Idol" featured auditions in San Francisco and Louisville this week, spotlighting the predictable set of awful crooners but also some genuine contenders for success this season.

Tuesday's San Francisco episode left much to be desired, with the exception of "Wicked" cast member Adam Lambert, a singer already generating buzz on "Idol" spoiler Web sites.

Another San Francisco auditioner earning buzz on "Idol" blogs? Raquel Houghton, who reportedly dated comedian Dane Cook for over two years.

Lambert and Houghton both earned tickets to Hollywood.

Wednesday's Louisville episode was more eventful, featuring some Hollywood-bound singers with quasi-professional pasts. Leading the pack? Joanna Pacitti, a former stage actress and recording artist who had one of her songs covered by Britney Spears.

Another one of Wednesday's singers, Brent Keith Smith, was a former contestant on the reality TV talent competition "Nashville Star."
