Two former Chattahoochee Valley football standouts, two Auburn players and an Alabama player are among the names on the 2007 watch lists for the Outland Trophy and the Bronco Nagurski Trophy, presented annually by the The Football Writers Association of America.
Former Shaw High standout Phillip Wheeler, now a linebacker at Georgia Tech, is on the list for the Nagurski list, given annually to the nation's top defensive player. Also on the list is former LaGrange High linebacker Wesley Woodyard, who plays for Kentucky. Auburn defensive end Quentin Groves is on that list.
Alabama lineman Andre Smith and Auburn lineman King Dunlap are on the early list for the Outland, given annually to the nation's top interior lineman.
