Historic Columbus Foundation honors Bibb City and Bibb Mill in first of a series called "Celebrate Columbus!"

The Historic Columbus Foundation will begin a new event series called "Celebrate Columbus!" The series will highlight various aspects of Columbus history.

This first of the series will be about the Bibb Mill and Bibb City, 7-9 p.m. April 16 in the RiverMill Event Centre, 3715 First Ave. Tickets are $25; free for students.

The program will feature the "past, present and future" of Bibb City. It will begin with the history of the mill and the village. John Lupold will begin the program. A panel of people who worked in the mill will talk about the Bibb Mill, which burned in October.

Fire fighters who saved parts of the mill and the entire Bibb village will be honored.

Brent Buck, who owns the mill, will talk about the possibilities for the future of the mill.

A reception and live auction of salvaged bricks painted by local artists will follow the program.
