Contest gives fast pass for 'America's got Talent' auditions

There's an added bonus for the top winner of a local talent contest to find opening acts for Gary Allan:

That singer will also go to the front of the line at the Feb. 8 auditions for "America's got Talent" in Atlanta.

Preliminary rounds of the Gary Allan contest, open to all ages, are Saturday at Columbus State University's Woodruff Gym. It's $10 to enter and proceeds benefit Columbus Hospice. Finals are Feb. 7.

Winners in female, male and youth divisions will open for Gary Allan's Feb. 14 show at the Columbus Civic Center. There's also a total of $1,000 in prize money.

The singer with the highest point total from the Feb. 7 finals will get the fast pass for "America's got Talent" auditions.
