Muscogee County Schools: SPLOST vote could come in September

A new Special Purpose Local Options Sales Tax for the Muscogee County School District could come up for a vote on September 15th, 2009.

The school board listened to recommendations from representatives of Gude, Inc., the company helping the district prepare for a SPLOST referendum, during their Saturday retreat at the Cunningham Center.

James Wilson with Gude, Inc. said they are looking at a tentative timeline that would include planning May through August and a September election date.

"If there is ever a time to do a SPLOST program, it is at the beginning of the school year," Wilson said.
