After a year of research and public meetings, the Fort Benning Regional Growth Management Team is ready to present its findings and proposals for the 10-county growth region that includes the Columbus metro area counties of Muscogee, Harris, Chattahoochee, Russell and Lee.
The management plan being drafted is to determine growth patterns and effects, and enabling a realistic assessment of needs and priorities.
The findings and draft recommendations will be presented at public meetings in each of the 10 counties. Tonight the meeting's to be held at 6:30 p.m. EST in the New Russell County Courthouse & Government Center Auditorium at 1000 Broad St. in Phenix City, the riverfront building at Dillingham Street that once was the Mead headquarters.
The next meeting will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, in the CB&T Room of the Columbus Public Library, 3000 Macon Road. The following Thursday, a meeting will be 6 p.m. in the Harris County Public Library at 138 N. College St. in Hamilton.
