The Lovett defense proved too much for Jordan to crack for much of the game, ending the Red Jackets’ season 58-56 on Friday at Jordan in the first round of the state playoffs.
Jordan leading scorers Sherinna Lewis and Lanequa Borders struggled to find much room to maneuver near the basket through the first three quarters, leaving the Red Jackets looking for other ways to score.
Lewis kept up the intensity to finish with 10 of her team-high 20 points in the fourth quarter, and Borders finished with 15 but was limited in the fourth as she battled foul trouble.
Lovett’s Tatiana Jackson scored a game-high 23 as the Lions advanced to play a second-round game on March 3 against the winner of Friday’s Model-North Oconee matchup.
