The bi-annual Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Equipment Recycling event continues until 1 p.m. Saturday at the city's recycling warehouse. The event, held in spring and fall, is expected to draw more that 550 cars and trucks filled with paints, solvents, lawn care chemicals, cleaning products, motor oils and unwanted electronic equipment.
In its fourth year, an estimated 250 gallons of motor oil will be collected for recycling, with an additional 250 gallons of household chemical products. Most electronics and computer parts can be recycled, or the chemicals recovered. The non-recyclable materials are safely discarded and kept out of the city landfill.
Dozens of volunteers helped with the collection, which is sponsored by Keep Columbus Beautiful, the City of Columbus Public Services waste collection division and Clean Harbor Environmental services.
The warehouse is located at #25 22nd Ave, across from Dolly Madison on Victory Drive.
