The National Weather Service is warning that with rainfall totals already reaching 1 to 3 inches this morning and 1 to 2 inches more possible, conditions in west-central Georgia are ripe for flooding because the ground's already saturated from weekend showers.
So it has issued a flood watch for this area until noon today.
"Small creeks and streams are running at elevated levels due to the recent rain," the weather service says in the alert issued this morning. "More rainfall this morning will cause additional rises. A few streams and rivers may approach flood stage. Urban flooding remains possible this morning, especially in poor drainage areas."
The weather service says a flood watch "means that conditions are favorable for flooding, especially along larger streams and rivers."
